We have taken all reasonable precautions to ensure the safety of children whilst in our care. There is only one entrance to our nursery, which leads from Occupation Road, through the main school gates, along the main playground and round to the left. The school gates are locked and to enter you must be let in through either the nursery or school buzzer system. At the nursery entrance, you can either let yourself in through our finger print access system, or you can buzz for a member of staff to greet you. It is vital that students, new staff, parents/carers and visitors never answer the door. This avoids awkward situations but most importantly, dangerous situations.

Additionally, we are very careful as to who may collect a child from our care. Anyone other than the 3 additional named collectors (on the registration form) must only collect children from our nursery after prior notice has been given to a member of the management team by the child’s parent/carer. On giving permission for another adult to collect a child, the parent/carer must give the full name and description of the person, an estimated time of collection and the person must be made aware of the password previously supplied on the registration form and provide identification.

New staff go through a rigorous recruitment, vetting and induction procedure and no member of staff is left unsupervised with children before receiving satisfactory references and a CRB disclosure, as well as several other checks. It is our normal policy to have at least 2 members of staff on duty in each room at any one time, regardless of whether the ratio requires only 1 member of staff.
