The facilities and Service

The facilities and service | Playwork Principles | Playwork theories

The Club is located in the school hall directly above our nursery and so, separate from the nursery children, and is designed specifically for school-aged children, where they can play, relax and be with their friends. Therefore the children can be happy in the knowledge that they are NOT attending nursery, but they are in fact attending a club, especially designed for them.

At The Club we provide a variety of play opportunities for children, based on memories of play from our own childhood. It is not a homework club, nor is it a place for more teaching, however, opportunities are provided for children to complete homework if they wish, and children will be learning naturally through their experiences with us.

Breakfast Club – The breakfast club runs from 7:30am in the morning until school time, when all of the children will be taken into school by The Club staff. Our staff will ensure each child enters the school safely and is acknowledged by a member of staff within the school, on entering the building. During the breakfast club, we will have a breakfast bar open from 7:45am – 8:35am , where children can serve themselves from a choice of cereals, toast, fruit, yoghurts and drinks. Children can also take part in free play - indoors or outdoors and socialise with their friends, preparing for their day ahead.

After School Club – Our Staff will collect all children from school, and will arrive at least five minutes before ‘the school bell’ to ensure they see each child out of the school. Our staff will carry with them, registers of the children they are collecting, and therefore we ask that we can be contacted immediately if there are any changes to the normal plan, ie. Sickness, or somebody else collecting your child from school. Back at The Club, your child will be engaged in free play and activities. Creative activities will be available to children during the whole of the session, with a free choice of materials and tools. All other toys and equipment are also accessible to children as free choice, however, children will be required to learn the rule of tidying away one activity, before starting another. Tea will be served at 4:00pm , and on most occasions children will have participation with the preparation and serving of their food. The Club closes at 6:00pm, or 6:30pm if you book the extended session.

Holiday Club – During the holiday club, we will have much more time to spend with the children participating in various activities, sports, trips and of course, lots of free play. We will operate a ‘suggestion board’ for children to add their thoughts and ideas regarding activities, trips and interests, either by written descriptions, drawings or photos and pictures. The ideas will be used to assist the planning, however, we will make children aware, that not all suggestions will be feasible, and we will explain which ones are not and why. Holiday Club sessions can be booked for a child’s regular attendance, or on an ad hoc basis for your children to engage in social activity and keep in touch with their school friends. Breakfast, dinner, afternoon snack and tea will be provided for a full day session. The Holiday Club offers flexible sessions, similar to the Nursery timetable; please see our fee list for more details.
