About Us

Little Learners Childcare is a dedicated, family run children’s day nursery and forest school. We have two nurseries based in Northamptonshire, our first nursery opened in Corby in January 2011 and our second site opened in Northampton in April 2015.

Since opening our first nursery we have grown as a company and more importantly, as a family. Our staff team are one big extended family to us and we are lucky to have so many long serving and passionate people in our team, who actively strive for the best for the children and each other. We welcome all children and their families into our extended family and aim to provide a true home from home and we value the input from our families to enhance the children’s learning and development.

We have a unique approach to childcare and learning, which is continually evolving alongside our professional development and knowledge, therefore, we believe the experiences we provide the children in our care are second to none. Our approach was originally enthused by the Reggio Approach from Northern Italy, however, over the more recent years, nature has truly inspired us and enhanced our approach in a way that only nature could!

We pride ourselves as a premium childcare setting, offering only the best childcare, learning and play to all children. We go the extra mile to make sure children’s creativity and imagination is fostered and embraced so that we can capture the magic of childhood and enhance children’s learning through play and natural experiences. We encourage children to be involved in decision making and we promote independence and risk taking through a range of carefully considered experiences that encourage awareness of possible hazards as well as using trial and error to achieve our goals.

We are huge advocates of outdoor play and exploration and spend the majority of our days out in the open air, investigating the world around us and the children thrive in our extensive and beautiful outdoor spaces. Children relish from the responsibilities and challenges given to them and they develop skills for life.

‘The best classroom and the richest cupboard is roofed only by the sky.’

We firmly believe that the environment is the third teacher, following the parent as the first teacher and ourselves second. We take a lot of care and consideration into providing learning environments which cater for the children’s needs, interests and next steps in their learning journey. Our play spaces often change throughout the terms, following the children’s lines of enquiries and fascinations. We do not have lots of typical plastic toys, rather we enhance our learning environments and opportunities with natural, reclaimed and real resources, which offer open-ended play and learning as well as hours of fun and curiosity. Furthermore, we value the use of light boxes, overhead projectors and regular projectors to add a new dimension to our explorations and discoveries.

We cater for children from 8 weeks old until they go to school and are dedicated to recognising each age and stage of development, hence we group our children into age groups accordingly and our youngest babies (0-1 year) have their own cosy space, before moving into the next age group (roughly 1-2 years). Our 2 year olds also have their own separate room and pre-school is for children aged 3 – 4 years (with some rising 3 year olds).

Both of our nurseries are open 51 weeks a year, excluding bank holidays. We close down for a week between Christmas and New Year including Christmas Eve where applicable. We open from 7:30am in the morning until 6pm in the evening, with a range of available session times within, please contact us to find out more.
